We had a great interview with VS-TV yesterday. Why were they interested in speaking with us? Because we have a big announcement!
Would you like to own your own home? Are you living in a building that doesn’t seem safe? Do you worry that your children might be getting lead poisoning or be breathing mold? Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County may be able to help you. Our mission is to eliminate substandard housing by building simple, energy-efficient and safe housing in Waldo County. We are accepting applications for a new home located in the community of the applicant’s choice of Belfast, Searsport or Monroe. Applications will be accepted from eligible individuals living in substandard housing, even if they own a trailer or home.
The home build is scheduled to begin once a suitable candidate is found. You may be eligible for a Habitat home if you meet the following three guidelines:
· Do you have a need for a safe, simple, energy-efficient home?
· Are you able to handle regular monthly mortgage payments, do you have acceptable credit and is your income less than 80 percent of median average income for Waldo County ($44,300 for a family of four)?
· Are you willing to be our partner and put in some "sweat equity?"
If so, please visit our website and review the FAQ section, or call our office at 338-2344 for more information.
